Don’t let us be strangers, as long as we are together,
Friends we’ll be, if you’ll agree, tis for a better plan,
Life is very short, so let us all endeavour,
To be as good and kind to one another as we can.

I hate to be unsociable to anyone I meet,
I like someone to chatter to, when I sit down to eat,
And even if I go by train, a mile or two away
Unto my fellow passenger I’m very sure to say

Don’t let us be strangers, as long as we are together,
Friends we’ll be, if you’ll agree, tis for a better plan,
Life is very short, so let us all endeavour,
To be as good and kind to one another as we can.

I hate to stand and drink alone, whenever I’m in town,
I like to say “here’s health, old chap”
before I drink it down,
And often have I said to men I ne’er before did see,
I’ll take it as a favour if you’ll have a drink on me.

Don’t let us be strangers, as long as we are together,
Friends we’ll be, if you’ll agree, tis for a better plan,
Life is very short, so let us all endeavour,
To be as good and kind to one another as we can.
